Hi, Hello
This is where I track all the media I engage with (or at least try to) while also not supporting platform capitalism. I have a bachelors in in film and television studies and a masters in media studies, so also trying to flex that muscle.
I also do have a doctorate if that means anything to anybody who comes across this

July 2026I saw a lot of different kinds of movies this month, kind of impressive in hindsight. Toy Story 5 was cute, Supergirl was nowhere near as bad as everybody says it was, The Invite was nowhere near as good as people made it out to be, Maddie's Secret felt like something impossible to pull off, and The Odyssey was just the summer blockbuster I needed. Real variety pack of a month. I also finished the new season of Love Island USA. I weirdly had a lot to say for a season that I ultimately found not great. I am currently getting through The Vampire Lestat which has also been rough... really quickly losing any confidence I had in the series. Goes to show how much of the heart was Louie and Claudia, and that Lestat's peacocking is only fun through someone else’s eyes. Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed has been a lot more enjoyable. 90 Day Fiancé is eternal, god I wish I could be on that production team. Maybe I should try to pitch some post-doc project on it.
On the Video game front, I finished Raidou: Remastered, played the new co-op Fears to Fathom: Scratch Creek and actually completed a run in Slay the Spire 2. I haven’twritten anything about that last one though, feels weird to write about it before it's even out of early access. Speaking of early access, Hell Maiden is a really fun and cool vampire hunter-like reimagining of Dante's Inferno with gender swapped anime characters and sapphic overtones. It's flashy and fun, and I'm really looking forward to seeing it grow. I am currently re-starting Fields of Mistria in anticipation of the full release next month. I went hard when it first got on early access and haven’t kept up with the updates. I am remembering how great it is, just the cast and world building of the town is so leagues ahead of other similar games.
I've also started blogging, and I promise it wont always be sparked by Pilates. I can’t help when Dionysus visits though. July has been a very weird month. It just feels like a real transitional phase. I have a doctorate and I'm having to contend with figuring out a life outside of school for the first time. It feels like I'm playing catch up in some ways. But, I am also very proud of myself for continuing to write and express my ideas. It feels good to write through it all, it's what earned me a doctoral degree after all.
For all the Odyssey woke discourse, I'm surprised that nobody brought up how Homer was actually a green haired lesbian of color:
